My gray hair transition continues

Some have asked, and the answer is yes! My gray hair transition continues!

There are days when I seriously do what I said I would never do–consider a pixie hair cut, but so far I haven’t gone that drastic (although in my bangs area it’s very short).  My plan is that when my bangs get to the length where they look soft and lay down how I like them, I’ll know it’s safe to cut the rest that short.   I don’t want a poking up pixie.  I am trying to stay looking soft and feminine, if possible.

In any event, here’s some updated photos.

You can see that it’s a few inches of gray now.  And it’s been 6 months.  So….agonizingly slow hair growth for me.   You can also see that I cut a good 6 inches off of the dyed hair.  That eliminates about a year of grow out time.  So far so good.   I think I’m over the hump.

It hasn’t been as bad as I thought it would be, but my grey is also very salt/pepper so it’s not too dramatic that it can’t blend into the dyed parts.  All in all, not too shabby.  I’ll keep going.

I’ve been thinking about letting my grey grow out too but I think I’d cave and dye my hair. Now that I see how great yours is looking I just might….might :).

Thanks for sharing your progress!

The first 4 months are the hardest. After that it’s pretty easy to do. There are some great “support groups” on Facebook too. They have helped me past the hardest parts. Try it! What’s the worst that can happen? You just dye again.

He would prefer it longer but he is happy with the coloring.

I’d love to see an update on your hair now. It looks great growing out! It took me almost a year and a half to grow out mine, and I’ve never received more compliments than I do now on my “ash blonde” grey hair. Its so liberating, I hope you stuck with it. 🙂

Love, love, love! Your new real hair! Congratulations for getting there! I’ve just started, I’m 47..well, 48 in November and I’m almost 100% grey under my brunette hair dye. I have a straight bob style so I now have a 1 inch..maybe a little more, skunk line…this is going to be tough! I’m thinking of starting a blog to help keep me on track! But I just wanted to say how fabulous you look and I hope I can keep this up too.
